COMMISSIONS:
Thanks for your interest in a Regal Beast commission.
The success of the portrait depends on the quality of the photos provided, therefore not every photo/pet is eligible for commission.
For example, while I strive to capture the soul of every animal I draw/paint, photographs of deceased pets may not include the details necessary for a favorable outcome. Or, you may have a favorite photograph of your pet that will not translate onto the canvas.
Price:
Pen and Ink drawings start at $225.
Paintings start at $500.
Custom backgrounds or complex hair will affect price.
WHAT MAKES AN IDEAL REFERENCE PHOTOGRAPH?
Natural light.
Photo is at eye level, or as close to it as possible.
Avoid taking a photo of their paws and the ground directly beneath them. This will result in the ground being included in the painting, which will take longer and cost more.
Contrast: If your animal has light fur, try to photograph it in front of a darker background; darker fur in front of a lighter background.
Crisp image: A treat or favorite toy held outside the photographic frame acts as a focal point to help ensure that pets remain still.
Below are examples of ideal reference photos taken in indoor and outdoor settings.
