Matt Morris received his BFA from Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida and his MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

After years of freelance illustration for numerous American publications, and private commissions for paintings and custom-painted vinyl toys, he found himself searching for his place in the art world.

Everything began to make sense when Matt painted a portrait of his grandmother-in-law’s dog, Mickey. He discovered a newfound artistic fulfillment from one of his greatest sources of happiness — pets.

Now, each piece is treated with the same care and attention to detail that went into the original Mickey portrait. Capturing a pet’s personality on canvas brings a spiritual component to Matt’s work, ultimately elevating his creative process.

Matt lives in Vermont with his wife and their two senior cats, who will someday be unpleasantly surprised by a new puppy. Until then, they’ll be sleeping, chasing each other and sleeping some more.
